As we age, the upper lip lengthens and thins. Less of the red part of the lip shows, and the upper teeth become hidden when the mouth is relaxed. Some people also have a naturally long upper lip.
A lip lift removes a small strip of skin just below the nose. This shortens the upper lip, turns more of the pink lip outwards and shows a little more of the upper teeth. The result is long-lasting and can look very natural, because no volume is added.
About the scar: every lip lift leaves a scar. It is placed in the crease under the nose and usually fades to a fine line over several months. It is pink at first and can be covered with make-up once healed. How well it fades depends partly on your skin. Your surgeon will look at your skin type and tell you honestly what to expect.
Lip filler adds volume and definition with hyaluronic acid gel. It suits thin lips, lips that have lost volume with age, or small asymmetries. It is done by a doctor in about 30 minutes, with numbing cream.

Some people have lips that are naturally fuller than they'd like. In a lip reduction, a strip of tissue is removed from the inside of the lip, so the scar is not visible. The lip becomes thinner while keeping its natural shape.
A lip lift and lip reduction are permanent, so planning matters. Your surgeon will discuss with you exactly how much change is right.

Will people notice I've had a lip lift?
The aim is a natural-looking lip. The goal is that people notice you look fresher, not that your lips have changed. The scar is the part that needs time, and it usually fades over several months.
Is a lip lift better than filler?
They do different things. A lip lift shortens a long upper lip; filler adds volume. Some patients need one, some both. Your surgeon will tell you which suits you.
Can I have filler after a lip lift?
Yes, once you've fully healed, if you'd like more volume.
When can I eat normally?
Soft food is recommended for the first few days after surgery. Most people eat normally within a week.
Can I fly after a lip lift?
Yes, after your stitches are removed, usually around day 7.
Can someone come with me?
