Başak Tükel At Medicape Health, Hollywood smile, zirconium crown, veneer and E-max treatments are planned and performed by a prosthodontist whose PhD thesis examined the color of zirconia restorations. When smile design is combined with facial aesthetics or rhinoplasty, she works with our plastic or ENT surgeon. |
Cosmetic dentistry includes procedures that improve the color, shape, alignment, and overall appearance of the teeth.
It enhances confidence while ensuring functional and aesthetically balanced results.
Each treatment at Medicape Health is tailored to the patient’s facial proportions and smile goals.
The routes to a new smile differ less in how they look than in how much tooth structure they preserve and how much load they can carry.
| Your goal | Suitable treatment |
|---|---|
| Reshape or recolour front teeth while preserving enamel | Laminate veneers |
| Enamel-like translucency in the visible zone | E-max veneers and crowns |
| Heavily damaged or root-treated teeth, back teeth, heavy chewing load | Zirconium crowns |
| A full redesign of the visible smile | Hollywood Smile design |
| Brighter teeth without changing their shape | Teeth whitening |
E-max restorations are made from lithium disilicate glass ceramic, whose translucency comes close to natural enamel — the reason they are so often chosen for front teeth. Zirconia is more opaque and considerably more fracture-resistant, which makes it the better choice where strength and chewing forces matter.
The work begins with analysis, not with a drill. We record photographs and video of your smile and assess tooth colour, tooth axes, the smile line and the relationship to your lips and facial proportions. From this a digital design is produced that you see before treatment starts. For extensive cases the planned result can be placed over your unprepared teeth as a mock-up, so you can judge shape and length in your own mouth before anything irreversible happens.
When a smile design is combined with facial or nasal aesthetics, our dentist and our surgical specialists plan together, so dental proportions and facial aesthetics support each other rather than compete.
A smile design assumes a healthy foundation. Active decay, leaking fillings, inflamed root canals and gum disease are treated before any ceramic work begins; otherwise the restoration sits on unstable ground. Patients who grind their teeth are not excluded, but they are planned differently, usually with a night guard and, where the chewing muscle is strongly developed, with masseter treatment to protect the new restorations.
This is the question patients ask most, and the answer depends on the method. Laminate veneers are wafer-thin and need minimal preparation, sometimes none. Crowns — whether E-max or zirconium — cover the tooth completely and require more. That is why we always check first whether the more conservative option will achieve your goal.
Ceramic restorations are strong but not indestructible. They are rarely lost to material failure; the usual causes are grinding, biting hard objects and gum inflammation at the crown margin. Six-monthly check-ups and professional cleaning are what keep a smile design looking the way it did on the day it was fitted.
