All-on-4 Dental Implants in Turkey

All-on-4 replaces a full arch of teeth with a fixed bridge held on four implants. It is for people who have lost most or all of their teeth in one jaw, or whose remaining teeth cannot be saved, and who want teeth that stay in place rather than a removable denture.

It is a big decision: any remaining teeth in that jaw are usually removed, and treatment takes two trips several months apart. At Medicape Health in Adana, your treatment is planned, placed and completed by a specialist in Prosthodontics – the same dentist who designs your final teeth – and you will have a written plan, based on a 3D scan, before you decide.

How All-on-4 works

Four implants are placed in each jaw being treated. The two front implants are upright; the two back implants are angled so they can use the stronger bone further forward and avoid the sinuses in the upper jaw and the nerve in the lower jaw. This often means a full arch can be supported without bone grafting.

A fixed bridge is then screwed onto the implants. You do not remove it at home; your dentist can remove it for professional cleaning.

Will my remaining teeth be removed?

Only if they cannot be kept reliably. Before recommending All-on-4, we look at every remaining tooth on your scan. If some teeth are healthy enough to keep, we will talk to you about options that keep them – such as individual implants, bridges or crowns – even if that changes the plan. We do not remove healthy teeth to make a treatment simpler.

Where teeth do need to come out, your plan explains why for each one, so you can discuss it with us or with your own dentist before you travel.

Is All-on-4 right for you?

All-on-4 may suit you if:

you have lost most or all of your teeth in one or both jaws

your remaining teeth are failing because of advanced gum disease, decay or fractures

you struggle with a loose or uncomfortable denture

you have some bone loss but enough bone for angled implants

It needs careful planning, or may not be suitable, if you:

smoke – smoking increases the risk of implant failure; we will ask you to stop or cut down before and after surgery

have diabetes that is not well controlled

have untreated gum disease in the other jaw

grind your teeth heavily

take medicines that affect bone, such as some osteoporosis or cancer treatments

have had radiotherapy to the head or neck

Before you travel

Send us:

a panoramic X-ray, or ideally a 3D (CBCT) scan, taken in the last six months

photos of your teeth and smile

details of your medical history and any medicines you take

Your dentist reviews these and sends you a written plan and quote. If we cannot tell from your X-ray whether you are suitable, we will say so and you will have a 3D scan on your first day before anything is agreed.

Your first visit (about 7 days)

Day 1 – Examination and 3D scan. Full examination, 3D scan, photos and planning of your implants and temporary teeth. You see your plan and agree it before surgery.

Day 2 – Surgery. Any remaining teeth are removed and the four implants placed, under local anaesthetic, with sedation if you prefer. Surgery usually takes a few hours per jaw.

Days 2–4 – Temporary teeth. Where the implants are stable enough, fixed temporary teeth are attached within a few days. If they are not, we will explain the alternative.

Days 5–7 – Check and go home. Your bite is checked, the area reviewed, and you receive written aftercare instructions and your implant details.

The months at home

Your implants fuse with the bone over the next three to six months. During this time:

Eat soft food. Temporary teeth are not designed for hard or chewy food. Think pasta, fish, eggs, soft vegetables.

Clean carefully. Brush the temporary teeth and the gum around them, and use the water flosser or brushes we recommend.

Don’t smoke. It is one of the main causes of early implant failure.

Stay in touch. Send photos to your coordinator on WhatsApp at one week, one month and three months, or whenever something worries you.

If a temporary tooth breaks or feels loose, contact us. It can usually be repaired at your second visit; we will tell you if it needs to be seen sooner.

Your second visit (about 5–7 days)

Once we have confirmed your implants are stable, we take impressions or scans for your final teeth. You try them in to check shape, shade and bite before they are finished, and they are then screwed in place.

How it feels afterwards

Swelling and bruising are usual and peak around days two and three.

You will have pain relief and, usually, antibiotics.

Most people return to light activity within a week, but feel tired for a few days.

Your new teeth will feel bulky at first, and speech may take a week or two to adjust.

Risks and limitations

Implant failure – occasionally an implant does not fuse with the bone. It can usually be replaced, sometimes after a healing period.

Infection – around the implants after surgery or, years later, as peri-implantitis – inflammation that can cause bone loss if cleaning and check-ups are neglected.

Nerve problems – rarely, numbness of the lip or chin after lower jaw surgery, usually temporary.

Sinus problems – rarely, after upper jaw surgery.

Breakage – temporary and final teeth can chip or crack, particularly if you grind.

Speech and food trapping – some people notice a change in speech or food collecting under the bridge at first.

Long-term maintenance – implants and bridges need lifelong care. The teeth on the bridge will wear and may need replacing over the years.

Once you’re back home for good

See your own dentist and hygienist regularly, and tell them you have All-on-4 implants. Bring your implant card.

Have the bridge checked at least once a year. Every year or two it may be removed for a deeper clean.

Clean under the bridge every day with a water flosser and interdental brushes.

Wear a night guard if you grind your teeth.

Will I leave Turkey with teeth?

In most cases, yes – fixed temporary teeth are attached within a few days of surgery. If your implants are not stable enough for this, we will tell you before you leave and explain the alternative.

Does it hurt?

Surgery is done under local anaesthetic, with sedation if you prefer. Swelling and discomfort for several days afterwards are normal and managed with pain relief.

How long do All-on-4 implants last?

With good cleaning, regular check-ups and no smoking, implants can last many years. The teeth on the bridge wear over time and usually need replacing at some point.

Can I have All-on-4 if I have bone loss?

Often, yes. The angled back implants are designed to use the bone that remains. Your 3D scan will show whether this is possible.

Will I need a bone graft?

Usually not, but your scan will confirm this. If grafting is needed, your plan will explain it.

How is it different from dentures?

All-on-4 teeth are fixed to the implants. They do not move when you eat or speak and do not cover the roof of your mouth.

Can my own dentist look after my implants?

Yes. Any dentist can check and clean them, and your implant card tells them which system was used.

What if I have a problem between visits?

Contact your coordinator on WhatsApp with photos. We will advise you and, if needed, arrange for you to be seen.
